The Folded BY-U application presents an innovative approach to teaching origami and its underlying mathematical principles through accessible video tutorials. Designed for K-12 students, their parents, and educators, this application serves as a valuable resource for developing abstract thinking skills, enhancing problem-solving confidence, and expanding the understanding of engineering concepts.

Leveraging the inherent appeal and accessibility of origami, it utilizes simple materials in a tactile and artistic manner, making the learning process enjoyable. The application guides users from foundational shapes and basic geometry to more intricate movements and mathematical applications relevant to engineering challenges.

Created in collaboration with Brigham Young University's Museum of Art and the Compliant Mechanisms Research team as part of the Folding Paper: The Infinite Possibilities of Origami exhibit, the app offers tailored experiences for three distinct user groups: 1) individuals preparing to visit the museum exhibit, 2) visitors engaging with the exhibit itself or utilizing the app as a take-home activity afterward, and 3) students unable to attend the exhibit who are provided with alternate engagement opportunities.
